Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable or Disable Lock Instantly with Power Key Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

When needed, you can enable the lock instantly with power key feature to assign the power key as the screen lock key so when you press this key, it will not only turn off the screen backlight, but also instantly lock the screen. It comes handy when you need to quickly secure your phone from unauthorised access without you have to wait until the current automatic screen lock delay is over.

How to enable or disable the lock instantly with power key feature?
Assuming that you use one of the screen lock types with secure lock settings(pattern, PIN, password, or fingerprints), you can turn on or off this feature by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Lock screen and security and then tap it.
  3. Tap Secure lock settings.
  4. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to Lock instantly with power key to enable or disable this option. When the switch turns blue , means this feature is enabled and the Power key has been assigned as the screen lock key so you can turn off and instantly lock the screen at the same time by pressing the Power key.
