Split screen view is a feature in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that will let you split your phone's screen becomes two so you can run two apps in the same screen at the same time. As the example, you can run Email app and Youtube app so you can send an email message to your contact while keep watching your favourite movie trailer, or you can open Internet app in two screens so you can browse two webpages at the same time.


How to run apps at once using the split screen view feature?
As the example, we'll use this feature to open two webpages at the same time by using the following steps:
  1. Long tap the Recents key(it's located in the left side of the Home key) to access split screen view. All apps that can be opened in split screen view will be displayed here.
  2. Select an app to open it in the first screen. As the example, tap the Internet app to open a webpage.
  3. Select another app to launch in the second screen. As the example, tap the Internet app again to open another webpage.
  4. If you'd like to adjust the size of the selected app window, tap and hold between the app windows and then drag it downwards or upwards.
  5. To access available options for the selected app window while using this feature, tap between the app windows to access the following options:
    • : tap this option to switch position between app windows so the app at the top screen will be at the bottom or vice versa when you hold your phone in the portrait view.
    • : tap this option to drag and drop text or image from one app window to another. You can use this option when you need to easily copy text or image between app windows.
    • : tap this option to minimize the selected app window. The app will be displayed as a floated app icon so you can use other app in full screen view and easily access the minimized app whenever you want simply by tapping the floated icon. The icon will stay floating until you close it.
    • : tap this option to maximize the selected app window or view it in full screen.
    • : tap this option to close the selected app window. When you do this, the other app will be displayed in full screen.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has the ability to copy paste text that you can use to easily copy text from one app and then paste it to other apps. It will save you more time because you don't need to write the same text manually when you need to use that text in other apps.


How to copy paste text?
As the example, we'll copy some text from a webpage to a memo by using the following steps:
  1. Open a webpage in the Internet app.
  2. Once the webpage is fully loaded, tap and hold over the required text you want to copy. If needed, you can drag to adjust the area of the selected text.
  3. Tap Copy to copy the selected text.
  4. Now, open Memo app and then tap at the bottom right corner to create a new memo.
  5. Long tap in the Enter memo field and then select Paste .
  6. The selected text has been copied from the webpage and pasted into your memo.

There are some issues in any Android phone, including with Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, that can be fixed by restarting the phone, e.g., misbehaving apps, the touchscreen responds slowly, etc. Instead of manually restarting your phone, you can use auto restart feature to have your phone restarts automatically at set time.


How to use the auto restart feature?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Personal section and then tap Backup and reset.
  3. Tap Auto restart.
  4. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the right to enable auto restart feature. The switch turns green when it's enabled.
  5. Tap Auto restart time and then set the required time to auto restart your phone and then tap Done button.
  6. Tap Auto restart days and then select the required day to auto restart your phone.
  7. Now, your phone will automatically restart at scheduled time. As the example, if you have set the time to 21:00 and the day to Every Sunday, your phone will automatically restart every Sunday at 21:00 in condition that your phone is not in use, the battery power is more than 30% and the SIM card lock feature is disabled.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Use Flashlight in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

When needed, you can use your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge as a flashlight to improve your visibility, for the example, when you need to find or do something in the dark. When this feature is on, your phone will project a flashlight beam from the camera light located in the back side of the phone.


How to use your phone as flashlight?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel.
  2. Swipe left on the quick setting buttons area to view more buttons.
  3. Tap Torch button to turn on the flashlight. The button turns green and the flashlight icon appears on the status bar as a sign that the flashlight is on. FYI, the camera light will stay on until you turn off the flashlight manually, even when the screen is off or locked.
  4. Point the flashlight to the area or object you want to lit up
  5. To turn off the flashlight, Swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap Turn off in the torch notification. The flashlight icon disappears from the status bar as a sign that the flashlight is off.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Setup and Use Doorbell Detector in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

Your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge comes with the doorbell detector feature that will let you use your phone to recognize or detect the sound of a doorbell ringing that you record in advance. When this feature is enabled and your phone detects the sound, your phone will give you notification through visual cues, vibration and light. To make this feature works, make sure your phone is within 10 feet of the doorbell sound.


How to setup the doorbell detector feature?
You can setup this feature by using the following steps:
  1. While the screen is unlocked, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Personal section and then tap Accessibility.
  3. Tap Hearing.
  4. Tap Sound detectors.
  5. Slide the ON/OFF switch next to Doorbell detector to the right to enable it.
  6. A pop up window contains with the disclaimer of the doorbell detector feature window appears on the screen, scroll down the screen to review it. Tap Confirm to continue.
  7. A pop up window contains with some information about the doorbell detector feature appears on the screen. Tap Turn on to turn on the doorbell detector feature.
  8. Ring your doorbell and then tap to record the sound. For the best result, keep your phone within 50cm of the doorbell sound and make sure the area is quiet.
  9. When the doorbell sound has been recorded, tap and ring your doorbell to confirm and check the recorded doorbell sound.
  10. When your phone detects your doorbell sound, tap OK button.
  11. This icon will be displayed on the status bar as a sign that the doorbell detector feature is set up and ready to use. As a note, while this feature on, you can't use the S Voice wake-up command, the voice search "OK Google" and other apps/features that use your phone's microphone(e.g., voice recorder app, voice dictating feature, etc.).
  12. If you'd like to change the doorbell sound, tap Change doorbell sound and then follow the on-screen instructions to record a new doorbell sound. FYI, the current doorbell sound will be deleted and replaced with a new recording.


How to use the doorbell detector feature?
When this feature is enabled, your phone will notify you when your doorbell is ringing. See the following steps as the example of using this feature:
  1. When your doorbell is ringing and your phone detects the sound, your phone will vibrate and provide you a visual notification. If you enable the flash notification feature, your phone will also flash the camera light when it detects the doorbell sound.
  2. Tap to disable the doorbell detector feature and stop your phone from vibrating.
  3. Tap to re-enable and start using the doorbell detector feature.
  4. If you'd like to view the log(date and time) of the doorbell alerts, you can view it in the Recent alerts section in the Sound detectors menu.
