Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Add the New Email Sender to Contacts

As we all know that Samsung Galaxy SIII allows the user to retrieve contacts from several sources, such as from social media account, from another phone, from Gmail contacts, etc.

Aside from adding saved contacts on your Gmail account, you can also add the new email sender to the contacts apps as new contacts or use them to update information in the existing contacts.


How to save the new email sender to contacts?
Below are the steps to do so:
  1. Open Gmail apps.
  2. Tap the required email message you wish to add its sender to the contact.
  3. Tap the 'people in square' icon in the left side of the sender's name.
  4. You will see two option available on pop up menu, they are:
    • Create account: tap this option to create new contacts for the email sender.
    • Update existing: tap this option to add the email address to an existing contact.
  5. Tap the required option you wish to use.
  6. Tap Done button to save the changes.

By knowing this step, now you can easily add the new contacts of certain email sender or add the email address information to the existing contacts. Also by using this steps, now you don't need to type manually the email address to your contacts, so this will save your time and avoid you to do a mistake when entering the email address to the contacts.

Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Share Selected Text in the Web Page

Web search is one of the option available when you're selecting text in the web. By using this option you can search whatever the text selected directly from the web, and you will find the search result be displayed in the default search engine page.

While you selecting text in the web, you can also find another option available called Share. This option will allow you to share the highlighted text in the web to another device through several ways, such as via Bluetooth, Email, Gmail, Messaging or Wi-Fi Direct.


How to Share highlighted text in the web page?
If you wants to share text in the stock Browser apps in Samsung Galaxy SIII to another device by using some options available there, then below are the steps you need to do:
  1. Open the stock Browser apps.
  2. Navigate to the required web page.
  3. Tap and hold the text until the text select is shown. You can adjust the text selected area by tapping and drag one of the anchor points at the selected text. The text selected will be highlighted.
  4. Tap Share icon at the top area of the display.
  5. Now, you'll see some options available to share, such as:
    • Bluetooth: choose this option to share the selected text to another Bluetooth-capable device. Make sure both of the devices to enable the Bluetooth to do so.
    • Email: choose this option to share the selected text via Email. This will copying the selected text to a new email message in the Email apps. When you have multiple email accounts, then you will be asked to choose which the account you want to send the email with. But, if you've already set the default email account, then it will automatically use this account to send the email with.
    • Gmail: choose this option to share the selected text via Gmail. This will copying the text selected to a new email message in the Gmail apps.
    • Messaging: choose this option to share the selected text via messaging. This will copying the text selected to a new text message in the Messaging apps.
    • Wi-Fi Direct: choose this option to share the selected text by connecting to another Wi-Fi capable device.
  6. Choose the required option you wish to use to share the text.
  7. The selected text will be sent to another device by using the selected methods.

In addition to import .vcf file to your Gmail, you can also be able to export manually your Gmail contact as .vcf file then import it to your Galaxy SIII. To do this, you need to connect your phone with your computer using a USB cable then copying the .vcf file from your computer to your SD card.


How to export .vcf file from Gmail?
Below are the steps to export your Gmail contact as .vcf file:
  1. On your PC, launch Browser by clicking the icon on your desktop.
  2. Navigate to Gmail by typing Gmail.com on the address bar.
  3. Login to your Gmail account.
  4. On your Gmail, click Contacts.
  5. Click More.
  6. In the drop down menu select Export.
  7. Now you will see some option available when exporting Gmail contact, such as:
    • Selecting which contact you want to export: selected contacts, certain group contacts or all your Gmail contacts.
    • Selecting which format file you want to use. In this case you have to choose vCard format.
  8. Click Export button.

Once you've finished exporting Gmail contacts, then copy .vcf you've just exported to your SD card. Now you can start importing .vcf file to your contacts by utilizing Import from SD card option that you can find under Contacts option.

How to import .vcf file to Gmail?
Once you've finished copying .vcf file to your computer storage, now you can start to add this file to your Gmail by following the steps listed below:
  1. On your PC, launch Browser by clicking the icon on your desktop.
  2. Go to Gmail by typing Gmail.com on the address bar.
  3. Login to your Gmail account.
  4. On your Gmail, click Contacts.
  5. Click More.
  6. In the drop down menu select Import.
  7. Click Choose File to select the vcf file that you've just saved before on your computer storage.
  8. Click Import button.
  9. Finish. Now your .vcf file has been imported into your Gmail contacts.

Importing backed up contacts to your Gmail account manually will help you to keep your contact synced with your Gmail when your phone is not auto synced with your Gmail. So, hope this helps :)
